A good cleanup on Manawahe Road

So we went back to the new block to find the rest of the peafowl that were elusive last time. Actually, we only covered one side of the creek. This night we had two teams, so we covered both sides. My team stayed on the side we hunted last time and had a big walk around the neighbouring property (with permission) before coming back to where we found birds last time. It was a long, quiet walk with not a sausage to be found. We came back to the trees we shot last time and picked up four birds only.

For team two it was a much different story culling the virgin ground. They had a good ole time and only a few peafowl escaped unharmed. My team had to go over and help carry birds back. It was good because we got up some hares and wallabies too.

I am not sure I want to tell everyone this...have you ever tried peacock mince? It is low fat meat but makes a mean spag bol or anything in a sauce. We treasure our hares. Each is like a little deer. The thigh mince makes the best burger patties!
